Quick Facts
About Antrix Corporation
Antrix Corporation is ISRO's commercial arm, established in 1992 and headquartered in Bangalore as a wholly-owned Government of India company under the Department of Space. Antrix markets ISRO's PSLV and LVM3 launch services to international customers, sells satellite transponder capacity and remote sensing data from Indian satellites (Cartosat, ResourceSat, RISAT), and handles technology transfer agreements with foreign governments and commercial clients. Notable commercial launches include coordinating the record-setting PSLV-C37 mission (104 satellites in 2017) for international rideshare customers.
Antrix was embroiled in a significant legal dispute with Devas Multimedia over a cancelled S-band satellite deal (2011–2022) that resulted in a $1.2B+ arbitration award against India, later mostly reversed. In 2023, commercial launch activities were formally restructured under the new NewSpace India Limited (NSIL) entity, with Antrix retaining some functions.
