Quick Facts
About Assurance Technology Corporation
Assurance Technology Corporation designs and builds RF and optical payloads, payload controllers and processors, power systems and scientific instruments for space, avionics, shipboard and terrestrial use, serving the US military, NASA and NOAA. It also provides high-reliability space parts processing and failure analysis, the unglamorous qualification work that determines whether a component survives a decade in orbit.
The company was established in 1969 in Carlisle, Massachusetts as a design, development and consulting operation. Its first systems reached orbit in 1973, and it has since delivered more than 350 space payloads and systems — an institutional track record that long predates the new-space cohort it now competes alongside.
ATC employs roughly 180 people. In 2026 it was one of three small companies selected by the Space Rapid Capabilities Office, in partnership with SpaceWERX, for a $3 million contract to develop radar warning receivers for highly manoeuvrable satellites in geostationary orbit.
