About Atomos Space
Atomos Space, founded in 2018 and headquartered in Denver, Colorado, develops in-space transportation vehicles — orbital transfer vehicles (OTVs) and space tugs — designed to deliver satellites to precise operational orbits after rideshare deployment, reposition satellites within a constellation, or extend satellite operational life by providing hosted propulsion services as a spacecraft approaches end-of-propellant.
Atomos' core product concept is the Quark OTV — a propulsion-capable spacecraft that rides alongside customer satellites as a rideshare co-passenger, separates on orbit, acquires the customer satellite, and delivers it to a final orbit that the primary rideshare vehicle could not reach cost-effectively. This addresses a fundamental gap in the rideshare market: rideshare launchers (SpaceX Transporter, D-Orbit, Exolaunch) deposit payloads at a standard sun-synchronous or low-inclination orbit, but many satellite operators need MEO, GTO, highly elliptical, or custom inclination orbits. Atomos provides the last-mile in-space delivery service to close that gap.
Beyond initial delivery, Atomos targets constellation logistics: moving satellites between orbital planes as demand patterns shift, replacing aging satellites by transferring spare buses from storage orbits, and providing end-of-life disposal services that pull satellites to lower decay orbits faster than autonomous drag allows — reducing space debris accumulation. These services have growing demand as constellation operators seek to maintain coverage quality without launching replacement satellites on dedicated vehicles.
Atomos raised seed funding from investors including Rogue Space Systems and participated in various space accelerator programs. The company competes with Momentus (VIGORIDE water plasma tug), D-Orbit (ION OTV), Exolaunch, and Orbit Fab (refueling) in the emerging in-space logistics sector, differentiating through its focus on the after-rideshare last-mile delivery use case.
