Audacy

Audacy was a Mountain View, California company founded in 2015 that planned to build a commercial space data relay network — a constellation of satellites in medium Earth orbit (MEO) that would provide continuous communications relay for LEO spacecraft, eliminating the per-orbit data blackouts caused by sparse ground station coverage. Audacy's business case targeted commercial satellite operators, CubeSat builders, and potential NASA customers who needed continuous telemetry and data links rather than scheduled ground station passes. The company raised venture funding and received FCC licensing for its relay constellation architecture. However, Audacy ceased operations before deploying its constellation, a victim of the capital-intensive nature of space infrastructure and competition from ground station networks like AWS Ground Station, Azure Orbital, and KSAT that were rapidly expanding as a service.
