About Besxar

Updated 2026-09-19

Besxar is a Washington DC-based startup developing reusable orbital manufacturing spacecraft called Fabships to produce semiconductor substrates and thin films using the ultra-high vacuum and microgravity of orbit. Founded in July 2023 by CEO Ashley Pilipyszyn, a former early OpenAI employee, the company frames its work as building an off-Earth manufacturing base to serve compute-hungry industries such as AI data centers. In 2025 Besxar signed a deal for SpaceX to fly 24 reusable Fabship payloads across 12 Falcon 9 launches, and in July 2026 it completed its first orbital manufacturing flight, becoming one of the first companies to fly a reusable payload on a SpaceX rocket.
