About Booz Allen Hamilton Space

Booz Allen Hamilton has served for more than 60 years as a trusted space program partner for defense, intelligence, and civil agencies across the federal government, providing consulting and engineering services that help clients modernize capabilities for today's greatest space challenges. The company addresses the weaponization of space, helping the U.S. stay ahead of adversaries threatening space systems critical to national security.

In August 2024, Booz Allen announced the successful deployment and operation of a generative AI large language model in space using Hewlett Packard Enterprise's Spaceborne Computer-2 onboard the International Space Station National Lab, believed to be the first LLM deployed in space. This breakthrough enables astronauts to use generative AI without depending on Earth-bound internet connectivity. The company has designed and deployed multiple AI models utilizing open-source data to track objects in Earth's orbit, including models that detect satellite maneuvers and classify space object propulsion.

Booz Allen pursues growth in military space programs, including becoming prime contractor for Air Force ground systems supporting SBIRS missile warning satellites and next-generation Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) systems. The company helped stand up the classified National Space Defense Center at Schriever Air Force Base in Colorado Springs.

Through Booz Allen Ventures, the company made strategic investments in Starfish Space for satellite servicing technology and Albedo for very low Earth orbit ultra high-resolution commercial imagery. With approximately 35,100 employees globally and $10.7 billion in annual revenue, Booz Allen continues advancing AI applications for space missions while providing critical consulting services to national security space customers.
