Bradford ECAPS (Enabling Concepts and Technologies for Advanced Propulsion Systems) is a Swedish in-space propulsion company based in Solna, operating as a subsidiary of Bradford Space Group (Netherlands), and the world's leading producer of HPGP (High Performance Green Propulsion) thrusters based on ADN (Ammonium DiNitramide) propellant — a non-toxic, high-performance monopropellant that delivers 12% higher specific impulse than conventional hydrazine while eliminating the extreme safety hazards (carcinogenic, highly explosive) and costly infrastructure (protective equipment, specialized fueling facilities) associated with hydrazine handling. Bradford ECAPS's LMP-103S propellant, also known as AF-M315E in its U.S. equivalent, enabled the PRISMA technology demonstration satellite (2011) to become the first spacecraft to fly green propulsion in a mission-critical role — validating that green propellants could replace hydrazine in real space missions. The company subsequently delivered 19 flight-qualified HPGP thruster systems for Planet Labs' SkySat high-resolution Earth observation constellation, providing constellation-scale validation of green propulsion reliability across a commercial customer with demanding mission requirements. Bradford ECAPS also supplies HPGP systems to military satellite programs across Europe and North America where reduced hazmat requirements at military facilities provide additional operational benefits. The 1N and 22N HPGP thruster product family covers CubeSat through medium satellite applications, with integration into standard satellite buses from multiple manufacturers. Bradford ECAPS competes with Aerojet Rocketdyne's GPIM (Green Propellant Infusion Mission) heritage, Moog's green propellant systems, and Busek's hydrazine alternatives in the growing green propulsion market driven by environmental regulation, REACH restrictions on hydrazine, and launch range safety simplification.
