About CASIC

China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation (CASIC, 中国航天科工集团) is China's second major state-owned aerospace and defense conglomerate after CASC. Established in 1999 and headquartered in Beijing, CASIC employs approximately 150,000 people across 14 major research institutes and numerous factories. CASIC operates the Kuaizhou (快舟) commercial launch vehicle program through its subsidiary Expace Technology — the Kuaizhou-1A solid rocket has conducted dozens of commercial launches since 2017. CASIC is also China's primary missile manufacturer (cruise missiles, anti-ship missiles, air defense systems) and manufactures spacecraft and ground systems for PLA space programs. The company's commercial satellite manufacturing arm has launched Earth observation and communications satellites for domestic and international customers.
