Dark (formerly Dark Aerospace) is a Bordeaux, France-based launch vehicle startup founded in 2021 developing Interceptor, an ultra-responsive small rocket designed for rapid-reaction government and defense launch missions. The company's central innovation is a fully autonomous pre-positioned launch capability: Interceptor is designed to be stored in a container-sized launcher module, transported to any site, and launched with minimal ground crew and infrastructure — enabling launch within hours of tasking rather than the weeks or months required by conventional range-based launch services.

This responsive launch doctrine is explicitly aimed at NATO and allied defense ministries who need to rapidly reconstitute satellite capabilities in contested scenarios where adversary ASAT (anti-satellite) weapons might destroy on-orbit assets. Dark raised €2M in pre-seed funding from European defense-tech investors and has been developing its propulsion system, GNC algorithms for autonomous flight, and the containerized launch module form factor.
