DDK Positioning is a Brisbane, Australia company founded in 2019 developing software-defined receiver technology to use LEO satellite signals — primarily Starlink and other broadband LEO constellations — as opportunistic positioning sources. Unlike traditional GNSS (GPS, Galileo) which requires dedicated navigation signals, DDK's approach processes Starlink's communication signals (Doppler measurements, timing) to extract positioning information from a constellation that was not designed for navigation but happens to provide far stronger signals, faster geometry change, and denser coverage than GPS satellites. This Signals of Opportunity (SoOP) technique can achieve sub-meter accuracy in environments where GPS is jammed, spoofed, or blocked. DDK competes with NextNav, Xona Space Systems, and Satelles in the LEO-PNT (positioning, navigation, timing) market.
