DPhi Space

DPhi Space is a Swiss space-technology startup headquartered in Lausanne that builds shared, hosted-payload satellite platforms under its OmniSat product line, effectively operating "space servers" that let multiple customers host hardware sensors and run software workloads on a single spacecraft on orbit. The company's approach is to provide satellite compute and hosting capacity as a service, lowering the cost and lead time for organisations that want to fly instruments or run software in space without building or launching a dedicated satellite.

DPhi Space's flight programme began with Clustergate-1, a demonstration mission that reached orbit via a launch partnership with Italian in-orbit services company D-Orbit (announced February 2024) and was confirmed operational in March 2025, hosting payloads for early partners including Mission Space, Revolv Space, ETH Zurich and Novoviz. The company announced a CHF 2.1 million funding round in February 2025 to expand its hosted-payload business.

Its second platform, Clustergate-2, launched in an on-orbit compute configuration (selected to fly on a Momentus Vigoride mission, announced October 2025) and became operational by April 2026, notably running a large-language-model application processing Earth observation data directly on orbit — an early example of on-board AI inference as a satellite service. In February 2026, DPhi Space announced a partnership with Tilebox to test ground-to-orbit software continuity, extending its hosted-compute model toward a more general on-orbit software platform.

As a young hosted-payload and on-orbit compute provider, DPhi Space occupies a niche adjacent to in-orbit servicing and rideshare integration businesses, competing on speed of access and shared infrastructure economics rather than building its own dedicated satellite buses for individual customers. Public information about its founding team and exact founding date is limited; its engineering roles are based in Lausanne, and an early mission partner, ETH Zurich, points to further ties within the Swiss academic research ecosystem.
