About Elecnor Deimos

Elecnor Deimos is the space engineering subsidiary of Elecnor S.A., a Spanish engineering and infrastructure conglomerate, operating from Madrid with additional offices in Puertollano, Spain and Cambridge, UK. Founded in 2001, Deimos has evolved from a pure space systems engineering contractor into a vertically integrated satellite manufacturer, data analytics provider, and mission operator. The company built and operates Deimos-1, a 100 m resolution multispectral Earth observation satellite launched in 2009 that became Spain's first operationally commercial EO spacecraft, providing wide-swath (600 km) imagery for agriculture, forestry, and crisis mapping. Deimos-2, launched in 2014, achieves 75 cm panchromatic resolution from a 390 kg satellite — at the time, the highest resolution per spacecraft mass achieved by a European commercial EO company. Both satellites are operated by Deimos Imaging (a subsidiary) and sell imagery commercially and through government contracts. Elecnor Deimos also provides mission analysis, systems engineering, and software for ESA and European national space agencies, having contributed to missions including Mars Express, BepiColombo trajectory analysis, and Galileo GNSS ground segment development. The company develops GNC (guidance, navigation, and control) algorithms, flight dynamics systems, and operations software used across multiple European satellite programs. In Earth observation data analytics, Deimos has built agricultural monitoring platforms using Copernicus Sentinel data fusion with their own satellite imagery. As part of the €4B+ Elecnor group, Deimos has the financial stability to compete for larger institutional contracts that smaller Spanish space startups cannot access.
