About Etlaq Spaceport
Etlaq Spaceport, described by its operator as Oman's first commercial spaceport, sits near the Duqm Special Economic Zone on Oman's central coast and is run by Etlaq Services L.L.C. alongside National Aerospace Services Company (NASCOM) and telecom partner Omantel, under Oman's national space program launched in 2022. The site conducted its first experimental suborbital flight, DUQM-1, in December 2024, followed by DUQM-2 in July 2025, which carried launch customer Stellar Kinetics' Kea-1 vehicle in a flight that was aborted after an actuator fault but still achieved operational milestones.
An August 2025 Omani regulatory directive (CAD 5-01) enabling 45-day launch approvals with no annual launch cap has since drawn memoranda of understanding with launch providers including Spain's PLD Space, which has designated Etlaq as a second launch base for its Miura 5 rocket, with full commercial operations targeted for 2027.
