Firefly Blue Ghost

Firefly Aerospace is a U.S.-based space company founded in 2021 focused on enabling launch, landing, and operations across space, with a particular emphasis on cislunar missions. The company develops a range of vehicles including the Alpha and Eclipse launch vehicles, the Elytra orbital spacecraft, and the Blue Ghost lunar lander. Alpha is currently the only operational U.S. rocket in the 1,000-kilogram class, and Firefly is collaborating with Northrop Grumman to build the larger, reusable Eclipse vehicle capable of delivering 16,000 kg to orbit.

Firefly’s Blue Ghost program is dedicated to lunar transportation, offering delivery and hosting of payloads on the lunar surface, with capabilities for lunar night operations and sample return. Notably, Firefly has achieved a significant milestone as the first commercial company to successfully land on the Moon with its Blue Ghost lander. The Elytra spacecraft provides in-space maneuverability and services, including payload delivery, imaging, and communications.

Firefly currently serves a diverse customer base including Lockheed Martin, the U.S. Space Force, and NASA, and is planning multiple lunar and on-orbit missions. The company is actively ramping up production of its existing vehicles while simultaneously developing new capabilities, positioning itself as a key player in the growing commercial space sector.
