Galaxia Space Systems

Galaxia Space Systems (operating online as gx.space) is a Halifax, Nova Scotia-based space computation company that designs intelligent Earth observation satellites with onboard edge-compute platforms for real-time data processing. Founded in 2020 by CEO Arad Gharagozli while he was a student at Dalhousie University, the company has grown from a university nanosatellite project into a builder of small satellites for commercial, civil and defence customers across environmental monitoring, agriculture, maritime awareness and resource management.

Galaxia's flight history includes LORIS (Low Orbit Reconnaissance and Imagery Satellite), a nanosatellite mission launched in 2022, and MOBIUS-1, launched in 2025 with support from the Canadian Space Agency. In September 2026 the company purchased a HyperScape100 hyperspectral imager from Belgium's Simera Sense, giving it 32 user-selectable spectral bands drawn from a library of 400, to extend its Earth-observation missions into hyperspectral sensing for defence and commercial customers.

In its most recent disclosed round, Galaxia raised roughly $4.5 million CAD (about $3.25 million USD) led by Quebec's Amiral Ventures and Invest Nova Scotia, and separately received about $219,000 CAD in February 2026 under Canada's Regional Defence Investment Initiative to support hiring, facility upgrades and export development. The company's product lines include a Virtual-Satellite-as-a-Service offering that lets customers deploy applications directly to orbital infrastructure, and MissionOne, an end-to-end spacecraft delivery service for dedicated, sovereign or hosted-payload missions. Galaxia is a distinct company from the Indian firm Galaxia Mission Systems.
