About General Dynamics Mission Systems

General Dynamics Mission Systems is a leading provider of space ground systems and network operations for defense satellite constellations. The company is developing integrated ground infrastructure for the Space Development Agency's Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture (PWSA), a transformative Low-Earth orbit satellite network supporting warfighter connectivity and missile tracking.

General Dynamics won a $324.5 million contract to operate ground systems and manage network operations for SDA's LEO constellation, with $162.9 million baseline and $161.5 million in options over seven years. The Operations and Integration segment supports SDA's Tranche 1 constellation, a mesh network projected to include 166 communications, data-relay, and sensor satellites serving military users globally.

The ground infrastructure includes two operations centers at Grand Forks Air Force Base, North Dakota, and Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama. General Dynamics is also developing 14 new ground stations comprising eight Ka-band, two S-band, and four optical communications terminals. Tranche 1, with 126 Transport Layer satellites, 18 experimental satellites, and 28 Tracking Layer satellites, launched in September 2024.

The Space Development Agency intends to award General Dynamics a sole-source contract to expand and sustain ground infrastructure for Tranche 2 satellites. Partnering with Iridium Communications, KSAT, Emergent, and Raytheon, General Dynamics provides critical ground segment capabilities connecting space-based assets with warfighters. The company continues advancing ground systems supporting the nation's proliferated defense satellite architecture.
