About Ghana Space Science and Technology Institute

GSSTI (Ghana Space Science and Technology Institute) is Ghana's primary space institution, established in 2011 under the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission and headquartered in Accra. GSSTI facilitated the development and launch of GhanaSat-1, Ghana's first satellite — a 1U CubeSat built by students from All Nations University and launched from the ISS in 2017 as part of JAXA's JEM Small Satellite Orbital Deployer program. The institute promotes space science education, conducts remote sensing applications research for agriculture and natural resource management, and is building the technical foundation for a future national space agency. Ghana's space ambitions are supported by AU/NASRDA regional cooperation frameworks and GSSTI's role in training the next generation of African space scientists and engineers.
