ICEYE Oy is the Finnish parent entity of ICEYE, a pioneering Earth observation company founded in 2014 in Espoo, Finland, that built and operates the world's largest commercial synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellite constellation — providing all-weather, day-and-night imaging regardless of cloud cover or lighting conditions, with the ability to detect changes and objects invisible to optical cameras.

ICEYE's SAR satellites operate in X-band radar, transmitting microwave pulses and recording the reflected signal to produce high-resolution images of Earth's surface. The constellation of 35+ satellites (and growing) achieves sub-1-meter resolution in Spot imaging mode and provides revisit times of hours to any location on Earth — a crucial advantage for time-sensitive applications. Unlike optical satellites that are blinded by clouds or night, SAR penetrates cloud cover and operates continuously, making ICEYE data uniquely valuable for emergency response and disaster assessment.

ICEYE's primary commercial markets include insurance (rapid post-event damage mapping for hurricane, flood, and earthquake events), maritime domain awareness (vessel tracking, illegal fishing detection), government and defense intelligence (military reconnaissance, infrastructure monitoring), and natural resource monitoring. The company's flood monitoring analytics product provides near-real-time flood extent mapping used by reinsurance companies including Munich Re and Swiss Re to accelerate disaster claims processing.

ICEYE raised over $300 million in funding, including from investors such as True Ventures, Space Capital, Tesi, and others, achieving unicorn valuation. The company established subsidiary offices in the US, UK, Poland, and Japan, and competes with Capella Space (US, SAR), Umbra (US, SAR), and Planet Labs (optical) for commercial Earth observation contracts.
