ICEYE US

ICEYE US is the American subsidiary of ICEYE, the Finnish synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellite company founded in 2012 that operates the world's largest commercial SAR satellite constellation, established in Irvine, California in 2020 to specifically serve US government and national security customers.

The US entity was created because many US government customers — including the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA), National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), US Space Force, and Department of Homeland Security — require their imagery and data service providers to be US-domiciled companies operating under US laws, holding appropriate security clearances, and capable of entering classified contract vehicles.

ICEYE's SAR satellites provide all-weather, day-and-night imaging at sub-meter resolution with hourly revisit capabilities over areas of interest — critical advantages over optical EO satellites that are blocked by clouds and limited to daylight hours. The constellation's persistent monitoring capability is particularly valuable for tracking vessel movements in contested maritime areas, assessing battlefield damage and military activity, monitoring infrastructure in denied access areas, and disaster response where cloud cover often accompanies the weather events causing damage.

ICEYE US has secured contracts with the USSF Space Systems Command and NGA for assured access to SAR data, positioning the company as a key commercial SAR data provider for the US intelligence and military communities alongside Capella Space and Umbra.
