Karman Project

The Karman Project is a global nonprofit fellowship and network organization founded in 2018 and headquartered in Luxembourg City, Luxembourg, dedicated to identifying, connecting, and developing emerging space industry leaders under 35 — named in honor of Theodore von Kármán, the pioneering aerospace engineer who defined the Kármán Line as the internationally recognized boundary between Earth's atmosphere and outer space.

The organization operates an annual flagship fellowship program bringing together a selected cohort from across the global space ecosystem — entrepreneurs building space startups, engineers at national space agencies and commercial companies, policymakers shaping space legislation, investors funding space ventures, and academics researching space technology and law.

The Karman Project summit and fellowship experience is designed to expose emerging leaders to cross-sector perspectives, facilitate relationships across national and organizational boundaries, and build a cohort of globally networked space professionals sharing formative experiences at the start of careers that may span decades of the space industry's development.

Luxembourg's hosting reflects the small country's disproportionately significant role in the space industry — home to SES (one of the world's largest satellite operators), the SpaceResources.lu initiative (first national framework for commercial space resource utilization rights), and a growing cluster of space companies attracted by favorable regulatory and investment conditions. The Karman Project leverages Luxembourg's space ecosystem to connect fellows with European and global industry while building the next generation of leadership across all segments of the commercial and governmental space sector.
