Lodestar Space is a UK robotics startup, based in London and founded around 2022 by Thomas Santini and Neil Buchanan, developing a platform-agnostic robotic system to act as an orbital 'first responder' for satellites. Its initial product is a dexterous robotic arm with electrical, mechanical and vision subsystems intended to inspect, grapple and repair satellites on orbit, including uncooperative assets. Lodestar conducted early microgravity testing in partnership with the Aurelia Institute and academics from the MIT Space Exploration Initiative, and targets an in-orbit demonstration as a step toward commercial life-extension and servicing missions.
