Lynk Global operates a satellite constellation providing direct-to-phone connectivity using standard mobile phones. The company achieved the first text messages from space to regular cell phones and is deploying commercial service with mobile operators worldwide. In February 2024, Lynk agreed to merge with Slam Corp (NYSE: SLAM), a SPAC led by Alex Rodriguez, in a deal valuing the company at $800 million. The merger aims to fund expansion of their low Earth orbit constellation. In November 2024, Lynk named former Intelsat President Ramu Potarazu as CEO. The merger deadline was extended to March 2025.
