Founded in August 2010 by Aaron Kemmer, Jason Dunn, Mike Chen, and Michael Snyder during Singularity University, Made In Space became the pioneer of space-based additive manufacturing. The company's Zero-G printer was the first 3D printer to operate in space, followed by the commercial Additive Manufacturing Facility still operating on ISS. Made In Space achieved numerous firsts including manufacturing the first ceramic part in orbit, producing ZBLAN optical fiber in microgravity, and developing the Archinaut robotic manufacturing system that set a Guinness record printing a 37.7-meter beam. The company's recycler converts plastic waste into printer feedstock for sustainable manufacturing. Acquired by Redwire in June 2020, Made In Space's technologies continue advancing in-space production, repair, and construction capabilities critical for future space infrastructure, though the ambitious OSAM-2 Archinaut One mission was concluded in 2023 without flight demonstration.
