About Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport

Updated 2026-09-04

The Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport (MARS) is a commercial spaceport located at NASA's Wallops Flight Facility on Wallops Island, Virginia, operated by the Virginia Commercial Space Flight Authority. Founded in 1995, MARS hosts Northrop Grumman's Antares rocket launches (which carry Cygnus cargo vehicles to the ISS under NASA's CRS contracts) and Rocket Lab's US launch complex (LC-2), used for Electron missions from US soil primarily for national security customers. The spaceport's Pad 0A serves Antares/Cygnus; Pad 0B is available for other medium-class vehicles.

MARS benefits from a mid-Atlantic coastal location with overwater flight paths to a range of orbital inclinations. Virginia has invested heavily in spaceport infrastructure as part of the state's space economy development strategy, including range upgrades shared with NASA Wallops.
