Moog Space Systems

Moog Space Systems is the space and defense division of Moog Inc (NYSE: MOG.A), headquartered in East Aurora, New York, where Moog was founded in 1951 by engineer William C. Moog who invented the electrohydraulic servovalve. The space division is one of the most pervasive and deeply embedded precision motion and control component suppliers across the global satellite and launch vehicle industry — its mechanisms and thrusters appear aboard virtually every major Western spacecraft platform.

Reaction wheels are among Moog's flagship space products: HR-series wheels ranging from 0.1 Nms to 2,000 Nms angular momentum storage for attitude control, deployed on over 1,000 spacecraft from CubeSats to GEO communications platforms. Solar Array Drive Assemblies (SADAs) — continuous rotary mechanisms that allow solar panels to track the sun while the satellite body rotates — are standard equipment on Boeing 702, Airbus Eurostar, and Maxar-platform GEO satellites, with thousands of units on orbit. Pyrotechnic separation systems — stage separation bolts, fairing release mechanisms, payload adapters — appear on Atlas V, Delta IV, Vulcan, and other launch vehicles. The Orion MPCV crew module docking system, ISS hardware, and Boeing CST-100 Starliner docking ring all use Moog mechanisms.
