Myriota

Myriota is an Australian satellite IoT company providing direct-to-satellite connectivity for low-power, low-cost remote asset monitoring. Founded in 2015 in Adelaide, South Australia, the company spun out of the University of South Australia with technology enabling devices to transmit small data packets directly to LEO satellites without requiring an expensive satellite modem — a key cost barrier for mass IoT deployments. Myriota's use cases include cattle and livestock tracking across Australia's remote agricultural regions, environmental monitoring (river levels, soil moisture), logistics tracking for shipping containers and vehicles, and infrastructure monitoring in areas with no cellular coverage. The company operates its own satellite constellation and sells its technology as a module embedded by device manufacturers. Myriota has raised funding from Cisco Investments, Boeing HorizonX, and Australian government bodies.
