Quick Facts
About NearSpace Launch
NearSpace Launch, Inc. (NSL) is a spacecraft and satellite-systems manufacturer based in Upland, Indiana, led by Chief Scientist Dr. Hank Voss and Chief Engineer Jeff Dailey, who together bring more than 70 years of combined aerospace experience; Dailey previously co-founded Nanoracks (now part of Voyager Space). The company builds CubeSat platforms under its FastBus product line, rapid-deployment systems branded TROOP, and the EyeStar line of satellite radios used for machine-to-machine and IoT connectivity, and it offers an NSL Black Box product for persistent, autonomous satellite-operator connectivity and space-situational awareness.
NSL states it has launched more than 100 satellites and 900 systems and subsystems to date, including over 215 EyeStar radios, working with customers that include the U.S. Space Systems Command, the Air Force Research Laboratory, NASA, DARPA and more than 100 additional commercial and academic partners.
NSL's recent flight heritage includes the SPEAR constellation, a series of satellites built to advance technologies supporting U.S. national-security space objectives. A SPEAR satellite was among ten customer payloads that smallsat integrator SEOPS processed and flew on the SpaceX Transporter-17 rideshare mission in mid-2026, alongside payloads from FOSSA Systems, ISISPACE, the University of Southern California and a Sandia National Laboratories/NASA team.
NearSpace Launch's long operating history, substantial satellite production volume and continuing government and rideshare manifest presence distinguish it from a newly formed startup, even though it does not appear to have disclosed venture funding rounds in the same way as younger smallsat manufacturers.
