Orienspace (东方空间, Dongfang Kongjian) is a Chinese commercial launch company founded in 2020 and based in Xi'an, developing the Gravity-1 solid-propellant launch vehicle. Gravity-1 achieved a successful inaugural launch in January 2024, orbiting 11 satellites and becoming the world's largest solid-propellant rocket to successfully reach orbit, with a payload capacity of approximately 6,500 kg to LEO. The launch took place from a sea platform in the Yellow Sea. Orienspace is developing Gravity-2, a larger liquid-propellant vehicle with reusability goals. The company attracted significant Chinese private capital and government support, positioning itself as a medium-lift complement to the solid-propellant leaders in China's rapidly growing commercial launch sector.
