Ovzon AB, headquartered in Solna, Sweden, is a publicly traded satellite communications company (Nasdaq First North: OVZON) providing high-throughput mobile broadband satellite connectivity to government, defense, and enterprise users — specializing in lightweight, compact terminal designs that deliver broadband connectivity to highly mobile platforms including vehicles, vessels, aircraft, and man-portable tactical terminals in environments where conventional VSAT terminals are impractical.

Founded in 2006, Ovzon developed its service around leased GEO satellite transponder capacity before transitioning to its own satellite operations. Ovzon 3 — the company's first proprietary satellite — was launched in December 2023 aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 from Cape Canaveral. Ovzon 3 operates in geostationary orbit and uses advanced digital signal processing and frequency reuse techniques to deliver high-throughput Ka-band connectivity with beam hopping capabilities, enabling dynamic allocation of capacity across the coverage footprint.

The satellite was designed by Maxar Technologies and represents a significant capital investment for a company of Ovzon's size — the satellite cost approximately $200 million and required project finance structures involving Swedish Export Credit Corporation (SEK) guarantees.

Ovzon's differentiation is its focus on the 'mobile broadband on the move' segment: unlike traditional GEO VSAT services that require large stabilized antennas, Ovzon's terminal designs (the OZ3 series) are optimized for compact, lightweight form factors suitable for military land vehicles, naval vessels, and unmanned systems. The company's defense customer base includes Scandinavian and NATO-aligned military users who require secure, anti-jam-resistant connectivity in contested electromagnetic environments — aligning with growing European defense spending following Russia's 2022 invasion of Ukraine.

Ovzon competes with Inmarsat (BGAN/GX for government), SES Government Solutions, and ViaSat's government division for the mobile government satellite broadband market.
