About Progress Rocket Space Centre

Progress Rocket Space Centre (RKTs Progress, Ракетно-Космический Центр «Прогресс») is Russia's primary manufacturer of the Soyuz launch vehicle family, headquartered in Samara. Founded in 1894 as an aircraft repair facility and converted to rocket production in the 1950s, the Samara plant has manufactured all variants of the R-7 rocket family — the world's most-launched rocket — for nearly 70 years. Progress produces Soyuz-2.1a, Soyuz-2.1b, and Soyuz-2.1v rockets for crewed ISS missions, cargo resupply (Progress spacecraft), government satellite launches, and previously for commercial customers through Arianespace (Soyuz at Kourou, now suspended). The factory also manufactures Resurs and Meteor Earth observation satellites. Progress is part of the Roscosmos state corporation and employs several thousand people in Samara.
