About Ramon.Space

Ramon.Space is an Israeli space computing company founded in 2004 and headquartered in Tel Aviv, developing radiation-hardened, high-performance computing systems that enable artificial intelligence inference, image processing, signal processing, and data compression onboard satellites and spacecraft — bridging the performance gap between commercial processors and the limited compute of traditional radiation-hardened (rad-hard) space chips.

Conventional space-grade processors achieve radiation tolerance through silicon-on-insulator (SOI) semiconductor processes, triple modular redundancy (TMR), and conservative clock speeds — but deliver only a small fraction of contemporary commercial processor performance. This gap has become a critical limitation as satellite Earth observation sensors generate terabytes of raw imagery per day that cannot practically be downlinked to ground without onboard processing and compression, and as AI-driven remote sensing analytics require edge inference capability that traditional space computers cannot support.

Ramon.Space's RD1000 and RD2000 processor families use RISC-V based architectures combined with dedicated machine learning accelerator cores, implemented in radiation-hardened process technology and tested to withstand total ionizing dose (TID) environments characteristic of LEO, MEO, GEO, and deep space radiation environments. The chips enable onboard AI applications including change detection, object recognition, automatic target recognition, and hyperspectral data processing without requiring massive downlink bandwidth.

The company's computing systems are deployed in commercial and Israeli government spacecraft. Ramon.Space competes with Microchip Technology's RTAX FPGA series, Cobham's LEON processors, and emerging radiation-tolerant solutions from BAE Systems and Xiphos Technologies for onboard computing contracts.
