S7 Space is a Russian commercial space company and affiliate of S7 Airlines (Siberia Airlines), one of Russia's largest private carriers. Founded in 2016, S7 Space acquired the Sea Launch platform — a floating launch facility based on a converted Norwegian oil rig — from Boeing and partners in 2016, giving it a unique equatorial launch capability from the Pacific Ocean using Ukrainian Zenit-3SL rockets. The Sea Launch platform had operated commercially from 1999 to 2014 before bankruptcy.
S7 Space planned to restart Sea Launch operations with Zenit rockets, but the conflict between Russia and Ukraine beginning in 2022 made this impossible, as Zenit is manufactured by Ukrainian manufacturer Yuzhnoye. S7 Space's commercial launch ambitions have been effectively frozen since 2022.
