The company was founded in 2024 by chief executive Matteo Vismara and a co-founder, building on physics research including work at CERN's Large Hadron Collider in Geneva. Its pitch is that OAM multiplexing raises data rate and transmission security without a proportional increase in terminal count, addressing a bandwidth bottleneck as optical crosslinks replace radio frequency links in large constellations.
SatEnlight has raised more than $1.8 million from founders, government grants, competition prizes, venture funds and accelerators including Takeoff, Galaxia, Area Science Park and ESA BIC Padua. Vismara won the grand prize at Via Satellite's Startup Space 2026 competition.
