Sayari Labs, based in Nairobi, Kenya, is one of Africa's growing nanosatellite development companies — building affordable small satellites for Earth observation and communications applications tailored to the agricultural, disaster management, and connectivity challenges of East Africa and sub-Saharan Africa, positioning as a complement to Kenya Space Agency's national space program by developing commercial satellite capability within the Kenyan private sector.

Sayari Labs' development focus on localized solutions addresses a critical gap in Earth observation services for East Africa: most commercial EO data products are designed for high-income market applications (precision agriculture for large-scale commercial farms, urban planning for high-density developed cities) rather than for the smallholder farming, pastoral land management, drought early warning, and disaster response applications most relevant to East African governments and NGOs. Kenya has among the most developed space ecosystems in Africa: Kenya Space Agency was established in 2017, Kenya launched 1KUNS-PF (a CubeSat developed by University of Nairobi students, deployed from ISS in 2018) establishing initial orbital experience, and Nairobi's technology startup ecosystem provides engineering and entrepreneurship infrastructure.
