About SES Government Solutions

SES Government Solutions (SES GS) is the U.S. government-focused subsidiary of SES S.A., the Luxembourg-based satellite operator, established in 2005 and headquartered in Reston, Virginia. SES GS provides managed satellite communications services, bandwidth, and end-to-end network solutions to the U.S. Department of Defense, intelligence community, civilian federal agencies, and allied governments. The company holds the necessary cleared-facility and personnel security clearances to serve classified programs and operates under U.S. regulatory frameworks that foreign-owned satellite operators must navigate through domestic subsidiaries.

SES GS delivers services over SES's combined O3b MEO and GEO satellite fleet — one of the most extensive commercial satellite networks globally — plus third-party capacity partnerships. O3b mPOWER, SES's second-generation medium-Earth orbit constellation of high-throughput spot-beam satellites, significantly expands capacity for low-latency government applications including forward-deployed military communications, unmanned system control links, and intelligence data downlink. MEO satellites at ~8,000 km altitude provide approximately 150 ms round-trip latency, critical for real-time video and remote sensing downlinks compared to 600 ms GEO links.

Major contract vehicles include the DoD's COMSATCOM services portfolio, where SES GS competes for DISA (Defense Information Systems Agency) bandwidth procurements, as well as task orders under the Enhanced Mobile Satellite Services (EMSS) and Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS) augmentation programs. SES GS also supports FEMA and DHS for disaster recovery communications, and allied government programs including NATO member nation requirements.

SES GS's competitive position benefits from SES S.A.'s scale — the parent company operates more than 70 geostationary and MEO satellites — providing a diverse orbital arc and frequency coverage that no pure-defense operator can match commercially. It competes primarily with Viasat Government Systems, Intelsat General, Inmarsat Government, and Hughes Network Systems for DoD managed services contracts.
