Space Pioneer (北京天兵科技, Beijing Tianbing Technology) is a Chinese commercial launch company that made history on April 2, 2023, when its Tianlong-2 (TL-2) rocket became the first privately developed kerosene-liquid oxygen rocket to reach orbit in China. Founded in 2019 and headquartered in Beijing, Space Pioneer is developing the Tianlong-3, a reusable medium-lift rocket with first-stage booster recovery capability targeting 17,000 kg to LEO — comparable to Falcon 9. The company raised approximately ¥1.2 billion ($165M) in 2023 funding rounds and is building manufacturing facilities to support a high-flight-rate commercial service. Space Pioneer's success on Tianlong-2 was particularly significant as it beat several better-funded Chinese commercial launch competitors to the milestone of kerosene-LOX orbital flight.
