SpiderOak is a Mission, Kansas cybersecurity company (founded 2007, originally known for privacy-preserving cloud storage) that pivoted to space systems cybersecurity with its OrbitSecure platform. OrbitSecure implements zero-trust security architecture for satellite communications and space ground systems — preventing command injection attacks, protecting data-in-transit between spacecraft and ground stations, and enabling secure multi-party access for satellite constellations with multiple operators or customers. The space cybersecurity market has grown significantly as satellite operators face increasing nation-state and criminal cyber threats and as regulations (CISA, FCC) begin requiring demonstrated cybersecurity controls for satellite operators. SpiderOak was selected for ESA's InCubed (Investing in Industrial Innovation) program, validating its technology for European satellite applications.
