About Starlab Space

Starlab is a planned commercial space station being developed by Starlab Space LLC — a joint venture between Voyager Space, Airbus, and MDA Space — targeting a 2028 debut as an ISS follow-on destination. Starlab's single-launch design will deliver a large pressurized habitat, science laboratory, docking ports, and power systems in one Starship payload, avoiding the multi-launch assembly required by competing multi-module designs. The station is designed to accommodate four astronauts and host pharmaceutical research, materials science, and Earth observation payloads from government and commercial customers. Starlab received a NASA CLD Phase 2 development contract in 2024 worth up to $843 million. The Airbus partnership provides European access to commercial LEO after ISS deorbit, and Mitsubishi's participation adds Japanese customer access. George Nield serves as Chief Safety Officer and former NASA astronaut Kathy Sullivan chairs the advisory board.
