Quick Facts
About Taitus Software
Taitus Software, an ESA Business Incubation Centre (BIC) alumnus company based in Italy, develops mission analysis, mission planning, and observation simulation tools specialized for Earth observation satellite systems, with its flagship SaVoir (Satellite Viewing and Orbital Information Resource) multi-satellite swath planner deployed on over 200 licenses worldwide.
SaVoir enables satellite operators, mission planners, and ground segment teams to compute and visualize the ground coverage swath traces of Earth observation satellites — predicting which areas of Earth a sensor will image during upcoming passes, scheduling observation requests to optimize revisit coverage, and resolving conflicts between competing acquisition requests across a multi-satellite constellation. The software handles diverse sensor modes including SAR spotlight, stripmap, and ScanSAR modes (with their different swath width/resolution tradeoffs), optical pushbroom and framing sensors, and scientific instruments with complex pointing constraints.
SaVoir's customer and mission heritage spans premier Earth observation programs: Italy's COSMO-SkyMed SAR constellation (ASI/Italian MoD), Germany's TerraSAR-X (DLR/Airbus), Canada's RADARSAT family (CSA/MDA), ESA's SMOS soil moisture and ocean salinity mission, ESA's GOCE gravity field mission, and the flagship Copernicus Sentinel program. This reference list covers essentially the complete tier of operational government-grade SAR and science satellites, validating SaVoir as the de-facto standard for complex multi-mode SAR mission planning.
Taitus also develops complementary tools for orbit determination, antenna visibility analysis, and mission database management integrated with SaVoir's planning workflows. The company competes with MATLAB-based STK/AGI planning modules and NASA's GMAT in the mission analysis software market, differentiating through its specialized EO mission planning depth and proven heritage on the world's most operationally demanding satellite programs.
