About TAQNIA Space

TAQNIA Space is a Saudi Arabian space technology company established as a subsidiary of TAQNIA, the technology commercialization arm of Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF). Headquartered in Riyadh, TAQNIA Space was created to build indigenous Saudi space manufacturing and services capabilities as part of the Kingdom's broader Vision 2030 strategy to diversify the economy beyond oil revenues and develop a domestic knowledge economy.

TAQNIA Space operates across satellite manufacturing, satellite communications services, geospatial data analytics, and satellite ground systems. In manufacturing, the company's most prominent achievement is its participation in the ARABSAT-6D communications satellite — a high-throughput GEO satellite providing Ka-band and Ku-band broadband and broadcast services across the Middle East, North Africa, and sub-Saharan Africa. TAQNIA Space contributed manufacturing and integration work to ARABSAT-6D, building Saudi in-country capabilities in satellite assembly, integration, and test (AIT) that previously would have required complete outsourcing to European or American prime contractors.

On the geospatial services side, TAQNIA Space provides Earth observation data processing, GIS analytics, and derived intelligence products for Saudi government ministries — agriculture and land use monitoring, infrastructure planning, border surveillance, and urban growth mapping for Saudi Vision 2030 mega-projects including NEOM and the Red Sea Project. The company leverages commercial satellite imagery from international operators plus future plans for domestically produced small satellites.

TAQNIA Space sits within the Saudi space industry cluster alongside KACST (King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology, the government research agency) and the recently established Saudi Space Agency (SSA, 2018). The company participates in the Saudi Space Commission's strategy to have 50% local content in national space programs by 2030. TAQNIA Space competes domestically with Arabsat for satellite communications revenue and internationally with emerging Gulf space ventures from UAE including Space42 and EIAST.
