Quick Facts
About Thales InFlyt Experience
Thales InFlyt Experience is the in-flight entertainment (IFE) and aviation connectivity business unit of Thales Group, the French defense and technology conglomerate. The unit develops and supplies the complete aircraft cabin passenger experience ecosystem — seatback entertainment systems, cabin management systems, crew wireless networks, and satellite-based passenger broadband connectivity — to commercial airlines worldwide. With over 2,400 aircraft equipped with Thales IFE systems globally (covering major airlines including Air France, Singapore Airlines, Air Canada, and others), Thales is one of the two largest IFE providers alongside Panasonic Avionics and Collins Aerospace. The 'nose-to-tail connectivity' marketing describes the integration of passenger entertainment, crew communications, cockpit datalinks, and cabin management into a unified architecture. Passenger internet connectivity is delivered via SATCOM terminals connecting to Inmarsat's GX (Ka-band) or Ku-band satellite networks, with Thales's AVANT IFE platform managing the combined system. Advanced cybersecurity is a critical differentiator: aircraft are increasingly targeted by cyber threats, and Thales's defense heritage in cybersecurity (it is one of Europe's leading cybersecurity companies alongside Airbus and Leonardo) informs its approach to protecting aircraft communication systems. The IFE market is primarily commercial aviation but Thales's overall defense profile gives it credibility with government and VIP aircraft connectivity customers.
