About TRL Space Rwanda
TRL Space Rwanda is the Rwandan operating arm of TRL Space Systems s.r.o., a Czech small-satellite mission integrator headquartered in Brno, operating out of Norrsken House in Kigali with a stated goal of building a complete local space ecosystem covering satellite manufacturing, integration, deployment, operations, and downstream services for the wider African market.
Its flagship local project is Rwanda's first hyperspectral CubeSat, a 6U satellite that began development in the first quarter of 2024 and carries a hyperspectral camera intended for agricultural and environmental monitoring, part of a plan to launch one CubeSat per year toward a five-satellite Rwandan constellation. The company has attracted roughly $1 million in investment toward the programme and is positioning Rwanda, in partnership with the Rwanda Space Agency, as a regional hub for small-satellite development and testing for Africa. Company leadership includes Serge Tuyihimbaze as Chief Operations Officer.
