About TU Munich Aerospace
TU Munich's Department of Aerospace and Geodesy (Technische Universität München) is one of Germany's leading aerospace research institutions, conducting world-class work in satellite navigation, space robotics, autonomous spacecraft systems, and geodesy. The department's Institute of Astronomical and Physical Geodesy (IAPG) is globally renowned for satellite gravity field research (GRACE/GRACE-FO mission contributions, global gravity field models). The Chair of Astronautics works on spacecraft GNC, autonomous rendezvous, and CubeSat missions.
TUM has developed small satellites through its dedicated space engineering students and participates in ESA and BMBF-funded programs. Munich's position as Germany's aerospace hub (Airbus Defence, MTU, MAN Energy nearby) gives TUM graduates and researchers direct pathways into the European space industry and startups including ISAR Aerospace, which counts TUM alumni among its founders.
