About URSC
U.R. Rao Satellite Centre (URSC), formerly ISRO Satellite Centre (ISAC), is ISRO's primary satellite development facility, named in honor of Professor U.R. Rao, the father of Indian satellite technology. Located in Bangalore, Karnataka, URSC is responsible for the design, development, fabrication, and testing of all ISRO spacecraft — including the IRS (Indian Remote Sensing) Earth observation constellation, the INSAT (Indian National Satellite) communications series, GSAT communications satellites, and science missions like Chandrayaan (lunar), Mangalyaan (Mars), and Aditya-L1 (solar observation).
The centre employs approximately 3,000 scientists, engineers, and technicians and operates one of Asia's largest spacecraft integration and testing facilities, including vibration testing, thermal vacuum chambers, and acoustic test facilities.
