About Vimotek

Vimotek AB, founded in 2024 and headquartered in Luleå, Sweden, is a deep tech startup developing simulation software and sensor technology for Rendezvous and Proximity Operations (RPO) — the suite of autonomous navigation, guidance, and control capabilities that enable spacecraft to safely approach, station-keep around, and maneuver near other satellites in orbit, a foundational capability for satellite servicing, in-orbit inspection, active debris removal, and space station operations.

RPO is technically challenging because close satellite-to-satellite operations require centimeter-to-meter precision navigation in an environment where GPS accuracy degrades, communication round-trip latency prevents real-time human control, and collision consequences are irreversible. Vimotek's software simulation tools enable engineers and mission designers to develop, test, and validate RPO guidance and control systems before committing to flight hardware — reducing the cost and risk of the growing in-space servicing and proximity operations market.

The company's sensor development targets the RPO navigation stack: the combination of optical cameras, LIDAR range sensors, and radar altimeters that provide relative position and attitude estimates needed for approach corridor guidance and docking mechanism alignment. Getting sensor choices and processing algorithms right in simulation before hardware development saves substantial development cost.

Vimotek's Luleå location situates it within northern Sweden's technology ecosystem, near Luleå University of Technology (LTU) which has strong space and electrical engineering programs, and in proximity to the SSC Esrange Space Center approximately 200 km east — Sweden's sounding rocket and launch infrastructure that provides physical space testing opportunities for proximity operations technology.

Named one of Sweden's 33 most innovative tech startups in 2025, Vimotek is positioned to grow alongside the in-space servicing market that Astroscale, Space Machines Company, and Northrop Grumman MEV are developing commercially, providing simulation and sensor tooling for the broader ecosystem rather than operating servicing vehicles directly.
