About Warpspace

Warpspace is a Japanese company developing an optical inter-satellite link (ISL) relay constellation to provide high-speed data transfer from LEO Earth observation and science satellites to ground stations. Founded in 2016 and based in Tsukuba (near JAXA's Tsukuba Space Center), Warpspace is building WarpHub, a network of relay satellites in medium Earth orbit (MEO) using optical free-space communications to create a 24/7 data highway from any LEO satellite to any ground station. This addresses a key bottleneck for Earth observation operators whose satellites can only downlink data during brief passes over their ground stations. Warpspace has partnered with JAXA and received funding from Japanese government bodies and space-focused investors, positioning it in the growing optical ISL market alongside Mynaric, TESAT, and SpaceX's Starlink ISL network.
