WISeSat

WISeSat is a satellite communications security venture associated with WISeKey International Holding AG (Nasdaq: WKEY / SIX: WIHN), a Geneva-based Swiss cybersecurity company known for hardware security modules (HSMs), digital identity, and IoT security chips, extending its security expertise into space.

WISeSat is developing a constellation of small LEO satellites equipped with post-quantum cryptography (PQC) — cryptographic algorithms specifically designed to remain secure against attacks from quantum computers, which would be capable of breaking the RSA and elliptic curve cryptography (ECC) algorithms that protect most internet communications today.

As quantum computers advance, the threat of 'harvest now, decrypt later' attacks (where adversaries collect encrypted communications today to decrypt once quantum computers become available) makes PQC implementation in satellite communications infrastructure particularly urgent for sensitive government and military applications. WISeSat's constellation provides a satellite-based secure communications backbone using NIST-standardized post-quantum algorithms, ensuring that communications routed through the system remain secure even if large-scale quantum computers become available in the 2030s.

The company has partnered with the Swiss Armed Forces, which have a national security interest in quantum-resistant communications that cannot be compromised by quantum computer-equipped adversaries.
