WORK Microwave

WORK Microwave is a German manufacturer of satellite ground-segment electronics, headquartered in Holzkirchen near Munich. Founded in 1986, the company marked its 40th anniversary in 2026. Its core products are satellite modems, frequency converters, and digital and virtual ground-station equipment used by teleport operators, satellite network operators and government agencies to transmit and receive signals through antennas — the modem and RF-conversion layer that most ground-station operators buy from specialist vendors rather than build themselves.

WORK Microwave also makes GNSS simulators, including its Xidus product line, used to test how receivers behave under multi-frequency GNSS signals, interference and spoofing conditions; the company has presented research on this topic at the European Navigation Conference. Its positioning, navigation and timing and satellite-communications product lines serve both commercial satellite operators and defense customers, and its digital/virtual ground-station technology reflects a broader industry shift away from large, dedicated dish-and-hardware teleport installations toward software-defined ground infrastructure.
