Spaceit

Tartu, Estonia commercial

Spaceit is an Estonian space software company founded in 2015 and headquartered in Tartu, Estonia, that spun out of the ESTCube-1 student satellite project — Estonia's first satellite, launched in 2013 as the first CubeSat to test electric solar wind sail (E-sail) technology in orbit — commercializing mission control software and ground operations expertise developed during that academic program. Spaceit provides a Mission Control as a Service (MCaaS) cloud platform giving satellite operators access to pre-integrated satellite operations capabilities without requiring development of bespoke ground control software. The platform includes mission planning and scheduling tools, command and telemetry processing, orbit propagation, and access to a pre-integrated worldwide network of ground station antennas — enabling operators to establish an operational mission control capability in weeks rather than the 12-18 months required to build a traditional custom ground segment from scratch. A distinctive platform feature is a cloud-based satellite operations simulator for cybersecurity testing — enabling operators to run simulated satellite contact scenarios verifying that their operations software, communication links, and authentication systems are resistant to command injection, replay attacks, and unauthorized access attempts before deploying to live satellite operations. This cybersecurity testing tool addresses an increasingly critical gap as the number of small satellite operators with limited dedicated security expertise grows rapidly across the NewSpace sector. Spaceit raised €1 million in pre-seed funding to commercialize its platform, leveraging Estonia's reputation as Europe's digital innovation leader — home to Skype's development, e-Residency, and strong software engineering talent — and competes with Leanspace, Bright Ascension, and GomSpace's ground systems for the cloud-native satellite operations software market.
